Bishoujo Senshi Sailorjupiter

Being a senshi isn't as fun as it looks. It requires the basics--undying strength, persistence, and dedication--but there is much more. So what does it really take to be a good senshi?

Sailorjupiter laying down the lawThe role of a senshi must be taken up by one who is strong. Fighting youma and dodging skilled attacks doesn't come easily to everyone. A senshi must be agile, quick, and flexible. She must know when to strike and how forceful a charge should be. Being too harsh or too gentle could result in the death of innocent beings.

On the battle field, lines must be drawn and the law must be laid. Letting an enemy know who's boss is essential to a successful fight, but a senshi is never to be harsh or cruel; always kind and forgiving but firm. This is where good judgement comes in. Is the enemy setting a trap, or repenting?

Not just physical strength, mind you, makes a good senshi. When a young girl is put aside to this task, she should commit herself wholely to her purpose. To leave the luxuries of a normal life is her ultimate choice, a very challenging decision for each of them to make. At times, cooking or tending plants seems the ideal life, but Makoto knows she must press on.

SailorjupiterWhen hurt, she must never wallow in pity. Depression could interfere with a senshi's will to fight or reach her goal. Sailorjupiter masters this well. When hurt by someone, she choses to fight with a vengence instead of wilting with tears. A prime example is her first appearance in both the anime and manga.

A heavy position to carry, but look at the results: above their insecurities, the senshi are always smiling, forever watching over their princess with a passion, and at last a paradise to follow all their trials.

...and that is what being a true senshi is all about.
